A Familiar Song

Another creative prompt from CMP Episode 39 was "A Familiar Song." I've been meaning to do something with Nathen's favorite bedtime song - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - so it was perfect. Here's the page in my Moleskine:

Paw Prints On My Heart

One of the creative prompts from the CMP this week was to create something that honors someone who is no longer with us...whether it be a person or a pet. I immediately thought of a Cocker Spaniel I owned several years ago. After sketching it, a fellow CMP friend mentioned that I should try to create a digital scrapbook page from it. So here it is:

Neat Little Online Mat Tool

I spotted this on the Inspire Me Thursday site today. I'll give it to you verbatim and then maybe you all can have fun playing with it as well...

Ever wonder what your finished artwork would look like matted and framed? Here is a quick and easy way to get a look at some of the possibilities: MatShop’s MAToMATic lets you upload your own images (or choose to work with MatShop’s sample pictures) and set options such as outer mat color, inner mat color, frame choice, and wall color. This interactive online tool is by no means representative of the only options available in the world of matting and framing, but it is interesting to see how different colors impact the art and either compliment or compete with it.

Surprised With My New Moleskine

I've been stricken with some sort of cold or flu virus today. So, with the exception of going to work, I've barely gotten out of bed. When I passed the kitchen table earlier to make myself a hot cup of tea, I noticed a package laying there. I could tell by the size and shape that it must've been my new Moleskine. I have to say that , after ripping open the package, I was a little shocked by the size. I figured that it would be a little bigger...but I can say that the size doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I like the idea of it being more portable.

Anyway. I decided to begin my first page with the calendar squares I've heard about...mostly because today is the first of the month...a fresh start! And because today was a dreary (and a little frustrating) day, I filled the first square with splashes of gray paint and little rain drops.

In other news, I nearly forgot to check my e-mail for the instructions on this month's Creative Mom Podcast ATC Exchange. The theme is "A Space of One's Own." Hmmm...

Ordered a Moleskine

So I broke down and ordered one of the infamous Moleskines I've been hearing so much about. I got a large sketch book, to be more specific. I should be receiving it within the next few days and I can't wait to start filling the pages! :D

Sudden Collage Inspiration

In last Friday's entry, I mentioned a really nice collage that I found on DeviantArt. Well, I suddenly came up with an idea for one today. I'll tell you how it happened...

I was in the kitchen trying to prepare a snack for Nathen. My little Cocker Spaniel, Sweet Pea, was begging at my feet. At that moment, Nathen was whining because I wasn't making his food fast enough. That's when Josh (my hubby) scampered into the kitchen acting up. I declared out loud and without much thought, "This is like my three-ring circus!" (I'm sure many mothers know exactly what I mean by that.) And so, the concept for my next project was born.

I'm not sure exactly how it will look, but I don't care. I'll just let it “happen” as I work. I do know that I'd like to make it a triptych. I'm sure it'll be a comical conversation piece if I end up hanging it on my living room wall. I'll keep everyone posted on how it's going.

Self Portrait

I've been on a major sketching kick lately. This is just a quick self-portrait that I completed earlier. I think I may add some watercolor to it in the future, but there's no rush.
